Student Work Showcase

Students in the Creative Writing Class wrote Haikus this week. Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry made of short, unrhymed lines that evoke natural imagery. Haiku can come in a variety of different formats of short verses, though the most common is a three-line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable pattern.

Night

Opposite of light
When darkness fills up the streets
Nothing but silence
An ocean voyage.
As waves break over the bow,
The sea welcomes me.
Warm waves, cool, deep, blue
Dolphins swiftly gliding through
Graciously you watch
Park

Big, wide, sunny, fun
Everyday it is a blast
Good for having fun
Sister

Sister, annoying
bothers me in the mornings
All day and all night
The fair is so fun
My favorite is all the food
A great place to go

~~~
The beach is the best
Relaxing under the sun
Always calms me down
~~~

Quarantine just sucks
Always locked up in my house
Can't go anywhere
Trees in the winter
Leaves and flowers never fell
Maybe it dies first
Big sisters' big house
chores everyday, plus weekends
Small brothers, big mess
